The North End Food Pantry is volunteer-run and donation-supplied. When we say we couldn’t do it without you, we mean it. Opportunity to positively impact people’s lives and connect with like-minded people who share a passion for helping others.
Do you have an hour or two to give to your community?
The North End Food Pantry is recruiting volunteers to help with our weekend food distribution! This early morning opportunity is quick and rewarding. No permanent commitment required—it’s okay to sign up for just one shift here and there! It makes a huge difference and is a great way to give back.
Current Volunteer Opportunities:
Food Pickup Driver
Time Commitment:
An hour per week.
Responsibilities:
Pick up food donations at Hannaford North Avenue at 7:30 AM on Saturdays or
Sundays and transport boxes of produce and deli items to food distribution
location (1416 North Ave).Provide a reliable truck or car with large hatchback.
Maintain a clean driving record and car insurance.

Food Distribution Helpers (great for high school students!)
Time Commitment:
1 1/2 hours per week. (7:45 – 9:30am Saturdays or Sundays)
Some lifting required.
Responsibilities:
Unload trucks
Set up tables
Unpack food and sort and organize by category into boxes.
Greet and assist guests with carrying bags of groceries
Fold and put away tables

Monthly Clothing Drives
Time Commitment:
3 1/2 hours per month. (10am-1:30pm on the last Sunday of the month)
Some lifting required.
Responsibilities:
Set up tables and crates
Receive clothing donations
Inspect clothing for wear and tear
Sort and organize clothing by category
Carry donations downstairs and put them away
Fold and put away tables

Volunteer Guidelines
Safety
If you are sick, please let us know and postpone volunteering until you are better. If you aren’t sure, wear a mask.
Always ask for assistance when lifting heavy bags or boxes.
Wear supportive footwear with a tread when working, such as sneakers.
DRIVERS
When driving for food pick up, always wear your seat belt and drive under the speed limit.
Park only in areas designated for parking, never in a fire lane.
Make sure your car insurance and driver’s license is up to date and in the car.
Respect
We treat everyone with respect.
Confidentiality
If you see someone you know coming for help, be polite and friendly.
Do not tell others who you saw here or repeat anything you hear.
We want to respect everyone’s privacy.
Some people may have left an abusive relationship, or they may be picking up for someone else.
Do not assume you know the person’s situation.
Caring
Concerns should be reported. If you see or hear something that does not seem right, such as suspected abuse, illness, suicide or self-harm, report it immediately to Thom Fleury or person in charge at the North End Food Pantry.
Reliable
Volunteers are important and people are counting on you to be here as you promised. Be on time and volunteer the length of time you have committed to volunteer.
